Birthplace: Eureka, California.
One lovely son, Michael Duval, birthplace: Rota, Spain.
Five years I lived and studied art in Seville and Porto de Santa Maria,
Spain. The opportunity afforded me the experience to engross wholly
the masterful art housed at the Prado Museum of Art, Madrid, as well
as other
museums in Spain.
My art has been presented in numerous galleries and museums in USA
as well as internationally ( Germany, Mexico, and Spain).
Appropriation. Art history is the primary point of origin for my art.
Universal and personal symbology, as well as personal iconography are
the second sources.
All great artists have studied the work of their predecessors and borrowed
from it, if they have felt the need and or the desire. Art history is
the means of learning - learning to see, learning about styles and techniques
- as well as stimulating the imagination.
Thusly, my appropriation of art history, with the interjection of universal,
personal symbology and personal iconography present a new and unique
visual statement.
I create my art with these objectives in mind. Whether the end results
are assemblages, paintings or sculptures.
